From New Look to the World Fair ’58

21 March 2008 > 29 December 2009

The exhibition “From New Look to the World Fair ’58” marked the fiftieth anniversary of the World Fair ’58 by presenting an overview of fashion in the 1950s.

The items exhibited, dating from 1947 to 1960 and including creations by famous couturiers and outfits from Belgian couture houses, all belong to the collections built up by the Museum since 1977. Fascinating evening gowns, wedding gowns, cocktail outfits, ladies’ suits, coats and accessories illustrated this particularly lavish period in the history of female fashion, characterised by an elegance that has rarely been equalled.
