Brussels Lace

From reality to fiction

23 April 2004 > 31 December 2004

The exhibition, the first of its kind devoted entirely to Brussels lace, presented a remarkable range of techniques and applications of Brussels lace: altogether, a total of over a hundred masterpieces of true refinement were displayed, most of which had never been exhibited before. The items in the exhibition, including costumes, accessories, fashion plates and photographs, belong to the Museum’s own collections. This wealth of production originating in Brussels was also illustrated by paintings and other documents from the City of Brussels Museums and Archives.
